If anyone has wants or ideas for this project, please list them. The project only the most general of direction right now, and I would like to get input early.

My idea is to add a option to open images like .jpg, .bmp etc. just as it is with opening text files (but in a new window).

Sounds great to me, I was thinking similarly.

I think custom user controls would be the best route.

If you want to take it, fork off the Tabbing fork. It doesn't currently write back to RTB but thats fine if we are going to scrap it anyway.

If you don't want it... I guess I can scrap my current fixes and fork that.

Nice work fixing the node double clicking!

One question though. Did you fork off the root? Because I don't see the new tab stuff.

I think it would be easier in the the long run to move what you have changed so far to the "tabbing" fork.

https://git01.codeplex.com/forks/austinfrench/tabbing

So the big difference is that on the tabbing the left pane is a user control.

Pay no attention to the images! (Actually, I should fork that too...).

Ok ill move my changes to tabbing fork.

edit.
hmm when i want to push changes in tabbing i get: "fatal: Authentication failed for 'https://git01.codeplex.com/forks/austinfrench/tabbing/'"

Did i miss something?

uhm Im confused. Do you have any idea why my authentication fails?

Oh, sorry I missed this error from you!

Form from tabbing and then push back your changes. Then request a merge and I can merge them up.

I really dont get it. What do you mean by saying 'form from tabbing'? For me it looks like some permission stuff because it cant be any code conflict I think.

I think it is permissions. I believe Codeplex prevents "developer" contributers (One of the security groups) from over writing other developers works.

I think it is because Codeplex does not have a very good Git merge tool, as even when I merge up it warns that the merge has to be done manually.

So is there any way for me to push my changes?

Push it back to a fork you created (or create a new one) and I will merge them up.

Ok. I just cant or dont know how to create fork with your Tabbing fork changes. Always when i create a fork i get repo with last changes from 14 Nov. I think that merging up those changes would be somehow pointless. Best way in my opinion is to add me to collaborants of tabbing or if you dont want to then just give me an advice how to fork most recent repo (with that user control etc.). I really would love to develop some code but im quite new to codeplex and maybe my problems are simple to solve but after reading many tutorials, manuals etc i still can't get it.

Just as we haven't defined the features of the version 1.0, so I have some ideas/features to roll up for the first release :
  • Explorer the computer file.
  • Explorer your local network (If you have the permission)
  • The app should display the folder content in the other window, not in the tree-view
  • redesign the application and make a startup form
  • Make basic menu and basic toolbox
  • Display the folder's content with Details, List, Big icon, small icon....
    ....
I think we should basically implement the Window explorer features for the version 1.0, however I can add up one other feature to make difference the default explorer , as :
  • Create Zoom button at the bottom of each two windows, so it will be useful to ease finding an element in each view if we have lot of folders/files.
IMHO, I believe that defining a list of features for each next version will motivate each team-mate to work on the project.

Hi Zygfryt

I created a fork named TabForkZygfryt, for your problem this fork include merely all changes made in Tabbing fork of AustinFrench, so I added you in as collaborator, feel free to put your changes there it's yours...

if you want more documentation about how to basically work with git, you can check out these links :

https://blogs.atlassian.com/2013/07/git-upstreams-forks/
http://lostechies.com/jimmybogard/2012/04/02/working-with-forks-on-github-or-codeplex/
http://gun.io/blog/how-to-github-fork-branch-and-pull-request/
https://help.github.com/articles/fork-a-repo#step-3-configure-remotes

Finally, It's recommended for us to separate each topic in its own thread or create the thread if it doesn't exist, afterward it will facilitate finding the information/discussion quickly, please Zygfryt if you have a further technical problem you can create a new thread for it. Thanks!!

Thank you very much for help! Of course I will get familiar with those links and I'll start new thread when i have any other problems. Eventually I'll develop some code during this weekend. Thanks for help one more time ;)
